Southern Cross Raid Rules

This document is intended to provide information to kin members regarding Southern Cross Raid Rules. Please read carefully and to be sure to ask any questions if you do not understand.

Communicating in the Raids

Communications for Raids will be conducted in Ventrilo unless otherwise indicated. The following information will give you access to the Southern Cross Ventrilo:

ISP  : 174.120.115.194

Port : 4674

Password : scross ( or personal password )

If you do not have Ventrillo please check with one of the officers and they will help you to download and install the program. If you do not have access and no ability to communicate or listen to instructions you will not raid.

Preparation for Raiding

Currently we raid on Friday morning 6 am and Saturday night around at 8:00 pm Server Time but might be expanded if required.

Sign up! This is a necessity so the raid leader can plan the raid and group. If you're not sure, sign up tentative and update it when you can. The raid leader may cancel the raid if they believe there are insufficient people available to run the raid.

If a participant is unable to make a raid we will look to fill the spot with Kin members first. If a situation occurs that prevents you from attending the Raid, please make an effort to remove yourself from the Raid and/or let the raid leader know in chat or by in game mail ASAP. Repeat offenders who have not informed the raid leader may be required to miss a week of raiding. If you feel you may not make it please put yourself down as tentative.

Be on time. This means being logged on your raid toon to start grouping 10 mins prior to raid start time. When the 5 minute warning goes out you must be ready and please don't be grouped or in an personal instance. Last one in has to sing in vent.

Be a good boy scout and be prepared. This means: wound, poison, fear and disease pots, hope tokens, scrolls, morale and power pots and any class items you need. Repair your gear before going in and log onto vent.  There is always an ample supply of these things on the kin AH, so stock up and no excuses!

Your traits/virtues while it would be great to have them capped it is not necessary. Please check with your raid leader if you have Virtue questions and keep in mind the higher the better.

As far as prerequisites we would like to have them completed prior to the raid starting. Please ask the raid leader if there are prerequisites and how to complete them.

Variety is the spice of life. The raid will need a balance of classes, so be prepared to switch if the raid leader asks you to. The raid leader may need to make changes to the selected Raid or Raid group if it is deemed necessary to ensure the success of the raid. If you miss out on a spot due to class requirements or due to more than 12 people signing up, every effort will be made to make you a priority for the next Raid.

During the raid (and this doesn't just mean during the fighting!) the raid leader is a priority speaker. In short, if they're talking, you're not. During the explanation of the strategy for the raid, the leader will ask if anyone has questions, so you'll get an opportunity to ask anything then.

During the fighting, please only speak if it directly relevant to the current situation. Examples of this are calling out you are rezzing someone, that the dps target has changed etc. The raid leader will give certain people specific jobs, so it's important to let them do these jobs. So, the golden rule is: Call out if something is relevant now to your class and job in the raid, and let others call the stuff that is relevant for them.

Play nice! We all make mistakes, but commenting on another players mistakes is rude, even if you think you know their job and their class. Problems are for the raid leader and raid leader only to comment on. This includes sending tells to other players and the leader.

The middle of a raid is not the time for discussion on strategies and who did what wrong. If you have a strat idea, or if you feel another player is not doing their job, raise this with the raid leader OUTSIDE of the raid. They will take it on board and care of it.

Under no circumstance will raid members interrupt the raid leader by giving instructions during the fight that contradicts and undermines the raid leader.  You will be given a private warning.

We reserve the right to change these rules at any time, based on current and future content, you agree to abide by the most recent version of these rules.
