Just letting everyone know Thornie wont be spending much time with us because her eyes are giving her some problems. She is a very important part of our kin and is missed when she is not around.

We love you Thornie and hope you get better soon.

this was Thornie message

How things can change in one single day ...

Yesterday was a great day ... we visited the Chiropractors, visited the butchers, watched MOSES on the ABC1 channel, we held our annual street party where I participated with my popular 2kgs of Honey Soy Chicken Wings and South Afrikan spiced sausage: BOEREWOERS ... it was stinking hot but we set up on the driveway with 3 trestle tables, heaps of votive candles, flowers, kerosene lamplight ... the ambience and atmosphere was amazing.

Neighbours joined us, adding more and more food, the children all played together nicely .. laughter, jokes, friendships of all ages rekindled and reforged strong again ... new neighbours were astrounded as this kind of comraderi rarely exists in this day and age ... * warm smiles * ... told them .. we are fairly close but we don't live in each other's pockets ...

At sunset, the start of this magical night .. I had a bleed in my left eye ... there were swirls of colour (the red of blood, black and brown dust storms .. moving about erratically as my eyeball moved ... I didn't want to alarm anyone.. thought .. this will settle down soon enough ... but secretly was surprised it happened in the better eye (left) ... mentally worked out my next appointment to the Lion's Eye Institute wasn't til Feb 2013

I retired early, hoping all would settle in the morning .. this morning I was saddened that my vision has reduced approx 60% and is even affecting my computer usage...

this is more contact that i have had with Thornie on FB. It should keep you all up to date.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts ...

Raeleen and I reached the Lion's Eye Institute at 8.30am nice and early for the 9.30am appt as you can never tell with traffic jams and parking challenges - only to be advised, " eerr sorry no Doctors here til 12noon ..." ... so we had to go waste time .. breakfast was in order and we only recently heard that the WITCHES CAULDRON was serving breakfast ... oh well ... * shrugs * .. someone has to do it .. it's a tough life ... s ... which better comrade in arms do I have to suffer this with s... * tee hee *

This all happens in Subiaco (the trendy yuppie shopping suburb s) .. had to walk past the Regal Theatre which has a fabulous costume jewellery store ... where I found an elegant pair of NZ pearl earrings which will replace the pair Tert damaged whilst we were in Europe ...

Also popped into Linneys to enquire about how to go about organising my Mother's double strand pearls into 2x single strand pearls for our daughters 2013 Christmas gift.

Wandered about DANEECHIs and checked out the current swimwear fashions but not my cuppa tea (and it was too expensive) .. we then checked out the TS store which had an UP TO 70% SALE on ... mmmm got 4x comfy summer dresses for home (3 for me and 1 for Nicola) for $126 ... bargain!

Lizzie Got back to the Lions Eye Institute, waited another 2 hours and finally saw Professor McAllister ... he confirmed I had had a heamorrage, said anything could have triggered it ... and whilst you're here.. lets apply some lazer treatment on it ... Oh? oh okay...

It was PAINFUL ... sighs.. nearly there.. you're doing so well ... zap zap ZAP zap zap zap .... good job.. you're so brave... zap zap ZAP ... look at my ear... up to the left... zap zap ZZZzzzaappp... grrrr ...

Lizzie So he's sealed some of the bleeding exposed spots but I need to go see my normal Specialist: Professor Constable on Jan 31st to get re-evaluated .. meanwhile take this documentation to the secretary ... $ 536 later ... Raeleen nearly had to pick me up from the floor ... sighs ... didn't expect that sting! seems we'll get most of the $$ back except for $100 from Medicare but I'll believe that when it hits the bank account.

So now without my specs, my eyesight feels like someones rubbed vaseline on my vision - the majority of the overhanging dust storm and dangling stuff is gone ... I can drive just a bit sensitive right now - at least can go to work on Monday onwards ...

Hope this helps everyone who is concerned about Lizzie. Hugs All Andi
